Arthur Morris Davis, III died Tuesday, December 16, 2008. A native of Washington, NC, he was the son of the late Arthur Morris Davis, Jr. and Ruth Marslender Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Arthur was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School where he was a three-sport athlete excelling in football, baseball and basketball, a sport in which he earned a scholarship. He went on to play sports and graduate from Elon College. He was the owner and operator of Arthur Davis General Contractors. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Faye A. Davis; his daughter, Lois M. Joyner and her companion, Mark Lynch, of Roanoke Rapids; three grandchildren, Hillary Gray Joyner, Morgan Davis Joyner and Noah Samuel Joyner; his sister-in-law, Barbara Mann and her husband, Carroll, of Littleton; brother-in-law O. L. Anderson and his wife, Debbie, of Atlanta, Ga.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the South Rosemary United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandra Mull officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart association, 3015 S. Memorial Dr., Greenville, NC 27834.
